I have black hair and now i want honey blond highlights for summer but someone told me I can't bleach out the black color to a blond color because it will only turn orange...because I've been dyeing my hair black for a year now..I really want the blond color but afraid of hair falling out or breaking...Is there anyone out there that had experience with going from black hair to blond?
Is it possible to dye my hair honey blond after i've been dying it dark brown and black for the past year??
No. Black is permanent and is impossible to strip without damage. For SURE, haircolor will not remove it. If you get orange you are lucky. Sorry.

going from black to bllonde can really damage your hair because of the dramatic color change. You might have to dye it several times to make it blond ei would suggest going to a professional. I would buy a good toner and alots of conditioner!

You can bleach it all you want, but you'll have to get honey blonde and dye it that color. Sweetie, everyone doesn't have to be blonde, though. If you look good with black hair, chances are you'll look horrible as a blonde. It will be damaged, so I reccomend getting it professionally done.

I just did it this last week. If you used box dyes, there's a bigger chance the bleach won't take the color out and you'll be left with an orangy color. If you used professional color, you've got a slightly better chance, but if you've reapplied it and it's been on there for quite a while, it's still likely to leave a orange tint. I was hoping I could go back to my natural color or a little blonder, but it just hasn't worked. I'm going to have to dye it back to a light brown. :-(
Get a professional color correction though. It took my instructors four tries to bleach out as much color as they did, and then applied blonde colors over it.
Hopefully it'll be a little easier for you.

Going from dark to light is a hard process. Your hair can only lift about 5 to 6 shades (with bleach) at one time if you are lucky. I can tell you that you can become considerably lighter in one sitting, and that orange color can be fixed by using a toner with a blue undertone (blue cancels out orange).

It's really something you should NOT do at home. Go to a salon. If your hair is so dark now you will have to use bleach to lighten it because color will NOT remove artificial color only bleach will. It could be a very long and drawn out process and very pricey because of the time it takes to do something like that. If you have been coloring your hair black for over a year there are many layers of color on your hair, which means it is going to be very, VERY hard to get it out of there. It also will turn every color in between black and light so this is why it needs to be done by a professional, they will have every product needed to complete your color, you would have to buy different stuff in the middle because there is no way to predict how fast your hair will lift and what color it will stop at. If it is done your hair will also be damaged beyond belief, so be prepared for that. Hair can only take 2 chemicals on it at once and the way it sounds you have many more layers of color than 2. Please be careful and good luck!
