Think hard about what you mean by "they" and "accept" before believing any answer to this question. Some will accept the person, but most will always consider them an outsider (gaijin). It's not like the way most Americans accept immigrants as new Americans. The person will be a "guest" which also means "customer" in Japanese (kyaku-san) so they will be treated with utmost respect, but never part of the society, just an honored outsider. Learning the language can help one's treatment, but it doesn't make you an insider.

Now foreigners make one percent of total Japanese population ..Of course they will accept you and sometime they will let you feel very special also.. But important thing is ..Are you going to accept and respect their unique culture ?Lot of foreigners can't do that..They continue to complaint about their way of life even after so many years of statement in Japan..
